ASSOCIATION OF BLACK SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS (ABSW)
Marygrove’s Association of Black Social Work Students (ABSW) was founded in 1978 to support and unite African American social workers, a minority in the work force. As a chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers, we provide opportunities for African American students to advocate for policies and services addressing a broad range of social, economic and political issues that impact the African American community. Our members learn to lead in their communities, to advocate and bring about necessary changes at all levels: individual, family, community, and government. ABSW pushes its members to grow and serve for a higher purpose. Social Workers are in dire need! In a world where there are still too many oppressed, poor, and mistreated men, women, and children, help us challenge the status quo; and reach out, advise, and nourish those who need it most.
